Cosmic Wrestling TV #1
LIVE from Prague, Czech Republic. Thursday 21st February 2019.
Start from the beginning with the Creation PPV
"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the first ever broadcast of Cosmic Wrestling TV. My name is Dorian Hindman, and we are coming to you live from the beautiful city of Prague in the Czech Republic. In our first confrontation of the evening, we will see War going one on one with Duos champion, AWESOME."
"Let's see if these boys can win a match without cheating, Heine."
"And welcome, also, from my broadcast colleague, Manny Fantana." Dorian says, deadpan. The two commentators are sat with their backs to their desk and the arena at large. They are in the corner of the stands, on the hard camera side. Dorian Hindman is a man of average height and build. He appears a child next to the gigantic Manny Fantana.
"Don't be like that, Heine." Manny taunts. "You saw them cheat on Saturday as clearly as I did."
"Winning by count-out is not cheating, Fantana." Dorian explains. "Granted, it's not as definitive as a pin fall victory, but it is a victory nonetheless."
"If a title can't change hands by it, it's not a real victory, Heine."
"Well, we're about to see if either man can get a, quote unquote, real victory tonight. Let's go to the ring."
"Now that, Heine, is a decisive victory." Fantana gloats the moment the cameras are back on him.
"I can't help but agree with you, Fantana." Dorian holds his hands up, metaphorically and literally. "AWESOME got some licks in early on, but War dominated this match and put his man away after little more than five minutes with The Spoils of War."
"And what a manoeuvre that Spoils of War hold is, Heine." Fantana waxes. "This move will win championships for War in the future, believe me."
"You don't have to convince me of that, Fantana, I just saw it." Dorian looks over his shoulder momentarily. "AWESOME is only just now beginning to move again after taking that devastating move. Perhaps the newly crowned Cosmic Dragon champion, Flash, should be worried."
"He's already worried about having to face Mohammed Cashman later tonight." Manny butts in.
"Well, that match is later, but first we'll see the brand new number one contender to the Cosmic Championship, Suzuki, in action against Diamond TA, who is with Walt Frederick right now."
"Thank you, Dorian." Walt Frederick, an average sized, middle aged man with a beautiful mustache and thinning gray hair, stands in a locker room with a live mic. To his right stands a much younger, slightly larger man with an even more impressive mustache. "Diamond TA, last night you faced Mad Dog Silva for the KO title and lost comprehensively."
"I told you on Saturday, Walt, before that match, that I am a wrestler." He stresses the last word. "I lost in a trash brawl because, unlike my opponent last time out, I am not a trash brawler. I am the best looking man in wrestling, I don't do fighting. I am the best wrestler in the world."
"Well, tonight, you get your wish. Tonight, you are in a straight wrestling match with the number one contender for the Cosmic Championship, Suzuki."
"That's right, old man." TA smirks. "I know the right people to talk to backstage, and tonight I get to dethrone the newly anointed number one contender. Tonight, pin falls count. Tonight, disqualifications are possible. Tonight, most importantly, submissions count. I am the best submission wrestler in the world, and no matter how big and tough the Suzukis and Mad Dogs of Cosmic Wrestling are, they stand no chance against me when I can get them in my holds."
Diamond TA's music begins playing as Walt turns to the camera and the mustachioed wrestler leaves. "Well, Diamond TA, your music is playing, perhaps in more ways than one. Down to the ring for this huge match-up!"
"Well, would you look at what just happened, Heine."
"It's my job to, Fantana." Dorian smiles at his own joke. "I'll have to hold my hands up and say that, in this instance, you were right."
"Just like in every other instance, you mean."
"That's disputable." Dorian looks doubtful. "But on this night, about this match, about this man, you were right. In a straight wrestling match, Diamond TA proved himself deadly."
"I have to take my hat off to Suzuki for lasting as long as he did, Heine. That Lotus Lock looks incredibly painful. I, for one, am delighted that TA wasn't wrestling when I was."
"Why do I feel like your congratulations are disingenuous?" Dorian asks, skeptical.
"Disin-what now?" Fantana looks confused.
"Never mind." Hindman smirks. "So, Suzuki beat the self proclaimed number one contender for the Cosmic Championship at Creation. Now Diamond TA has tapped Suzuki out clean here on Cosmic Wrestling TV. Where does this leave the number one contendership? Who is in line to face Tommy Gates?"
"Both of these men have a strong case, Heine." Manny begins. "But, in my opinion, The Reaper deserves another shot after how Creation ended on Saturday."
"The Reaper will be in action later tonight, but for now we must turn our attention to the Dragon division, and inaugural champion, Flash."
The camera cuts to a pre-recorded interview with the Cosmic Dragon champion, Flash. He wears board shorts and a grey tee shirt promoting a surfing good store in Venice Beach.
"Man, it feels amazing to be the first ever Cosmic Dragon champion. To represent an entire division of excellent wrestlers as its first ever champion is an honour I never expected. I'm not content just to be the first champion, though. I want to set the bar so high that my records will last a lifetime. I want to set a record number of days as champion, a record number of title defences. I'm 21 years old. I could hold this belt for 21 years!
"Who will the first defense be against? Well, I have a plan for that. Over the next few weeks on Cosmic Wrestling TV, I'll face all the junior heavyweights in the division in non title matches until one of them can beat me. He who does, gets the shot. If none of them do, well, I guess we'll have to have another multi-man match where I beat them all, again."
We cut back to the commentators and Manny looks personally insulted. "The kid won't last a month, Heine. Mo Cashman will tear him limb from limb!"
"Let's see if that happens." Dorian leads in. "Let's head to the ring for this non-title match. The battle of Venice Beach! The first ever Cosmic Dragon, Flash, one on one with Mohammed Cashman."
"Looks like the young champion has more about him than you thought, Fantana."
"He got lucky, Heine." Manny fumes. "Cashman would beat that punk nine times out of ten. Tonight, we witnessed an anomaly, not the norm."
"Cashman was the larger and stronger of the competitors and dominated the early stages of the match. What went wrong for him?"
"He should've hit the Paydirt when he was on top and put the kid away, once and for all. He waited too long."
"There were a couple of occasions, Fantana, when Cashman showboated to the crowd rather than going for covers or staying on Flash."
"There's nothing wrong with letting these people know just how great you are, Heine."
Dorian shakes his head, amused. "Next up, a match we discussed earlier, Fantana. The Reaper is in action against El Ultimo."
"This man who would be champion, should be champion, is about to prove his superiority by taking apart the ancient Puerto Rican. A dominant display, a Burning Hammer, a true number one contender."
"I think you underestimate El Ultimo."
"I think you underestimate The Reaper. This is a man who should be Cosmic Champion by now. And he will be, sooner than later."
"Over to the ring." Dorian sighs, overrun by Fantana's enthusiasm.
After the match, The Reaper grabs a microphone. He breathes slow and deep, the muffled sound filling the hall, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. The crowd wait for him to speak, but he just breathes. After over a minute, he throws the mic back over the ropes and simply leaves.
"What was that all about?" Dorian asks.
"He doesn't have to say anything, Heine." Fantana answers. "He just showed his power and athleticism. Tommy Gates has another defence against The Reaper on his horizon."
"I agree that it was an incredible match and a great victory, but El Ultimo had more of that than you expected. He had far more of the offence early on and, shockingly, kicked out of two Burning Hammers."
"Tommy Gates has destroyed The Reaper's confidence in the Burning Hammer, his signature hold. Luckily, he is just as adept at a number of suplexes which saw him through tonight. Don't get it twisted, Heine, the Burning Hammer, when at full power, is the most devastating move in wrestling."
"More so than the One Winged Angel?" Hindman asks.
"The Reaper kicked out of that move." Dorian waits for Fantana to see the irony, and moves on when it becomes clear that he won't.
"Up next will be the main event of this first ever Cosmic Wrestling television broadcast. Mad Dog Silva will defend the KO title against the man who earned the chance to face him on Saturday."
"I still don't think he earned it just by winning one match." Fantana argues. "He's a great athlete, but he wasn't attempting knock out moves. He needs to smarten up tonight, or Mad Dog will tear him apart."
"He showed his resiliency, though, Fantana." Dorian comes back. "We've seen Hubert Armstrong knock people cold with the Chelsea Grimace and young Isiah Jones took three of them and kept getting back up."
"No offence to the gentleman brawler, but he's no Mad Dog Silva." Fantana shakes his head. "This one could get ugly."
"You could be right." Hindman concedes. "Let's go down to the ring for our main event."
"What just happened, Heine?!"
"We just witnessed a war, Fantana, a war that I would wager is long from over."
"I meant that finishing manoeuvre. He just brainbustered him on to the top turnbuckle! I've never seen such a brutal looking move. He must have listened to my commentary and developed himself a knock out blow."
"And boy, did it ever pay off." Dorian exclaims. "And let's not forget, that wasn't just any man that he took out with that blow, that was Mad Dog Silva! Two hundred and ninety two days as champion, since the birth of the title itself, with fourteen successful defences. Isiah Jones, in his second match ever for Cosmic Wrestling, dodged the Roundhouse Killer before dropping Mad Dog on the top of his head, winning the Knock Out Championship. Amazing."
"I-" Fantana stammers. "I'm in shock."
"What a way to end our first ever broadcast. Make sure to join us next week for more Cosmic Wrestling. I've been Dorian Hindman, and from me and Manny Fantana, goodnight."
"I can't believe it." Fantana shakes his head as the show goes off the air with a shot of Isiah Jones on the entrance ramp, holding aloft his brand new title.
